Aim Services Inc, located in Saratoga Springs, NY, has been integral in providing services and support for persons of all ages with developmental disorders and brain trauma and their families for over 25 years. As a not for profit organization, Aim Services, Inc services and support are covered via state Medicaid.
Aim’s support is referred by OMRDD (New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental disabilities or DOH (New York State Department of Health). The application process starts out with sitting down with a Service Coordinator and mapping out the needs of the person, as well as applying for Medicaid Waivers, when application. Each applicant must meet specific eligibility requirements set by the OMRDD or DOH. The application process can take as little as a few weeks, but not usually more than six months.
Once the application has been approved, the person will be assigned a Medicaid Intake Coordinator, who will sit down with the applicant and the guardian (when necessary) to discuss and review an Individualized Service Plan. This service plan will be updated, bi-yearly, or as the needs of the person change. Having an intake coordinator takes the burden off the primary care giver of dealing with multitudes of paperwork, and having to seek out services, that may otherwise be unknown. The intake coordinator is the primary contact for the disabled person and their caregiver. The intake coordinator also comes to the residence, and provides services, such as transportation to doctors and services, when needed.

The services and support provided are as follows, but not limited to Respite Care, Residential services, in home and residential placements, Family Education and Training, Residential Habilitation, as well as Therapeutic services.
The only requirement by Aim, for the family and/or the client, is to attend one per year of the multitudes of FET (Family Education and Training) provided through out the year and to meet with the intake coordinator once a month. This requirement is for the client to meet with the coordinator, and at times, this may include a meeting at the person’s school or residence.
