Some people just don’t feel comfortable with naked walls. Bob’s Garage in Fox Chapel is downright terrified of them. It’s a good thing, too, because all of the stuff that adorns the walls makes the karaoke acoustics at Bob’s amazing…or so the rumors say.
Literally every inch of wall space is covered with seasonally-themed decorations. Currently, Christmas décor still dominates the scene; it feels akin to stepping into Santa’s workshop, except that the elves have been sipping the spiked eggnog. The decorations change with the season, so even upon the small chance that one has been able to eyeball everything, the sparkles, flakes and snowmen won’t be there for long (next up: St. Patrick’s Day!).
Sick of looking at the decorations? No problem–Dino the Singing Bartender never allows karaoke to become stale at Bob’s Garage. Even if the atmosphere flavor is bordering on the beginning-of-the-night bland side, Dino steps up to the plate in true heroic bartender style. Dino’s a crooner and he belts his tunes from behind the box-shaped bar. The world stops for just a moment as he intones his oldies in rousing style, always delighting the crowd.
A word of caution must be mentioned to the wise patrons of Bob’s Garage, however…check for food in your teeth before performing, because it is extremely likely that you’ll be stuffing your face with Bob’s signature dishes for the duration of the evening. Must-haves while dining at Bob’s are the Reuben Sandwich and the fabulously delectable Turkey Devonshire…just make sure yourself you allow yourself a break from your diet that day.
In addition to the signature entrées, salads and burgers, Bob’s offers various appetizers and sides for those who just want to nibble while they sing (and if you’re actually able to do that, drop me line). The artichoke drip, cheese fries and chicken tenders are all hot, gooey and perfect complements to a night at the karaoke bar. Bob’s also offers discounted drinks during Happy Hour for those who like to start early. Just sayin’.
For anyone with a serious karaoke addiction (if you have a karaoke “stage name,” this
probably means you), Bob’s offers a place to sing your heart out every night (times vary). Three DJ’s regularly rotate, keeping the atmosphere fresh. Bob’s has multiple monitors, allowing singers to croon their tunes from table—or from behind a random palm tree—if they so choose. Bob’s periodically turns the front of the bar into a dance floor for short stints on Friday and Saturday nights to appease the dancing queens in the house.
Bob’s Garage is definitely worth checking out. This is Pittsburgh’s own box ‘o fun, where eye candy abounds. And there’s karaoke every single night.
