Carnival returning to Europe in 2011
It’s official! Carnival Cruise Lines is returning to Europe in 2011 with the debut of the cruise line’s new ship “Carnival Magic”. Carnival will be offering a mix of 7, 9, and 12 night cruises departing from Barcelona, Spain. Carnival is offering an exclusive pre-sale for past guests from January 19 to January 25, including complimentary two-category upgrades, along with special pricing with rates starting at just $829 per person, based on double occupancy. The sailings open for booking to the general public on January 26, 2010.
A special one-time 9 day voyage from Venice to Barcelona will operate May 1-10, 2011 with ports of call Dubrovnik, Croatia; Messina, Sicily, Italy; Naples, Italy; Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Livorno, Italy; Monaco; Barcelona, Spain.
Seven night cruises aboard Carnival Magic will feature Monte Carlo, Monaco; and Livorno, Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples and Messina, Italy. Departure dates include July 3, 10 and 17, 2011.
Nine night cruises will call at Marseilles, France and followed by Monte Carlo (excluding the August 26 departure); Livorno, Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples, and Messina; and Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Voyages will operate June 3 and 24, August 5 and 26, September 16, and October 7, 2011. The special nine-day cruise departing May 1 will visit Dubrovnik, Croatia; Messina, Naples, Rome (Civitavecchia), Livorno; and Monte Carlo.
The 12 night Grand Mediterranean voyages will feature Monte Carlo or Marseilles; Livorno, Rome (Civitavecchia), and Naples; Dubrovnik (excluding the May 22 departure which will visit Palma de Mallorca); Venice (overnight call) and Messina. These voyages will depart May 10 and 22, June 12, July 24, August 14, September 4 and 25, and October 16, 2011.

Getting to Europe from New Jersey
If one of the above Carnival Cruises is of interest to you then you will need to travel to Europe to begin your trip. Northern New Jersey is served by three major airports with Newark Liberty usually being the most convenient for the major of NJ residents. Other choices include JFK or LaGaurdia** airports both located in Queens, New York City, New York. Those living in Southern New Jersey will find Philadelphia International a closer and more convenient choice. **Note that LaGaurdia Airport does not offer direct flights to Europe and will require a change of planes in other cities such as Boston in the United States or Montreal, Canada.

Purchasing Airline Tickets
Most airlines offer tickets up to 330 days in advance for ticket purchase. Therefore, if you plan to book your cruise in May, 2011, airline tickets will become available for purchase in June, 2010. If you plan to cruise in June, 2011, then airline tickets will be available for purchase in July, 2010, and, so on and so forth.
