The Tastings Journal Washington DC edition is offering a five course meal at La Tomate for $45 this deal started yesterday and ends on the 31st of January. La Tomate is an Italian Bistro located in DuPont Circle with a marvelous view of your surroundings. Parking is complimentary at the PMI Garage located 1 block away on 20th and Florida. La Tomate has two levels to dine at and an outdoor seasonal patio.
What can you expect at La Tomate? For this event the first course will be Bruschetta, Bread seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic topped with spicy red peppers, onions, tomato, and cheese. For the second course you have a choice between the Timballo Vegetariano di Couscus con Gamberi in Brodetto (shrimp with mixed veggies and couscous) and the Torta Salata al Taleggio e Caricofi (quiche served with prosciutto). For the third course you can expect salad; Insalata di Barbabietole e Castelmagno (a mixed greens salad with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette) or Insalata di Spinacini e Indivia con Pere e Pancetta (a spinach salad with pancetta, honey poached pears, and a garlic balsamic reduction).
For the fourth course you have four options which come complimented with a glass of wine paired with the course of your choosing. Arrosto di Vitello con Prosciutto e Porcini e Salsa al Vino Rosso is one of your options it is veal stuffed with prosciutto and wild mushrooms topped with a sweet red wine sauce. Filetto di Pescatrice in Camicia su Letto di Lenticchie e Spinaci is another one of your choices it is a monkfish and Italian prosciutto wrapped and served with leeks, lentils, spinach, and a Mornay sauce. Petto di Pollo al Forno con Salsa Agrodolce e Verdure is also one of your options which is chicken seasoned with lemon and honey served with pureed potatoes and topped with a veggie sauce. Risotto Primavera is your last option for the fourth course which is a creamy risotto served with veggies. And the best was of course saved for last dessert. Being offered is one of my personal favorites Tiramisu. Tiramisu is a mascarpone cheese topped with a sponge cake and espresso and coffee liqueur. Or if you aren’t a fan of Tiramisu you can choose the other option being offered Tartufo al Cafe which is basically a coffee ice-cream with an espresso center.
