(San Francisco, CA) – January 21, 2010 – 2010 marks CHEER SF’s 30th Anniversary, and the team is proud to announce its new partnership with the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The world’s premier philanthropic cheerleading team, CHEER SF is currently selling Warriors game tickets for up to 50% off. CHEER SF and Warrior fans may purchase discount tickets to the Tuesday, February 23, 7:30pm game against the Philadelphia 76ers and to a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) night on Thursday, March 11, 7:30pm against the Portland Trailblazers via www.cheersf.org. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to Positive Resource Center (PRC), CHEER SF’s seasonal primary beneficiary.
All three organizations are thrilled to partner on what is believed to be the first official LGBT event in NBA history. “Performing on LGBT night for the Warriors is the opportunity we’ve been waiting for. Our NBA debut at halftime is sure to be a huge crowd pleaser and a great way to bring awareness of our fundraising efforts,” said CHEER SF Program Director, Steve Burke. PRC Executive Director Brett Andrews noted that CHEER SF will introduce PRC’s work to a broader community. “This is invaluable, as the agency’s long-term viability depends on our ability to build support from people who may not yet have heard of PRC.” Warrior fans will be treated to an amazing show featuring extreme stunts and powerful dance routines, a preview of CHEER SF’s 2010 Pride show and Gay Games VIII competition entry. Game night attendees will receive complimentary t-shirts commemorating LGBT Night with their ticket purchase while supporting the San Francisco-based AIDS services organization.
