Ever since Qua Baths & Spa opened inside Caesars Palace back in 2006, the tranquil retreat has been known as one of Las Vegas’ top spas. Offering unparalleled amenities and unique, signature services, Qua Baths & Spa truly provides guests with a spa experience unlike any other.
One of the spa’s must-try signature services is its Signature Hourglass Treatment, perfect for both avid spa-goers and first-timers. A sampler package of sorts, the Signature Hourglass Treatment allows guests to select facial and body treatments custom designed to meet their specific needs. Depending on the duration of the service (Signature Hourglass Treatments are available as 60-minute, 120-minute and 180-minute services for $200, $400 and $1,200, respectively, with the 180-minute service being a couples treatment), guests can experience multiple treatments at once, from chakra balancing to body wraps. Even if you just opt for the 60-minute service, you’ll be amazed at how much your spa artisan can accomplish in the hour.
Upon entering the treatment room, your spa artisan will go over your treatment options with you based on how long of a service you booked. Those who paid for the 60-min. Signature Hourglass Treatment can choose from a moisturizing facial, a Hawaiian Lomi-lomi massage, a hot stone massage and a Raindrop Therapy aromatherapy experience, among other treatments. To get the most out of the experience (not to mention the most bang for your buck), your best bet is to start with the Raindrop Therapy treatment, followed by a massage and then a facial. If you decide on a facial, you’ll be asked a short series of questions before you lie down on the treatment table so that your spa artisan knows of any allergies or skin irritations beforehand. That way the only thing you have to do during the service is relax and enjoy your treatment.
The Raindrop Therapy treatment begins with your spa artisan asking you to breathe in deeply, taking in the aroma of nine carefully selected essential oils by Young Living–Valor, Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Wintergreen, Cypress, Marjoram, Peppermint and Aroma Siez–that are then layered into your body in sequence one by one. After the spa artisan places several drops of each oil along your spine, she (or he) will gently massage the oil into your skin to engage your body’s internal systems before moving on to the next oil application. Each oil has its own special purpose, from helping cure depression to helping guests recover from jet lag, and together the nine essential oils help bring balance to your body, mind and spirit by promoting detoxification and releasing stress. You’re sure to find yourself slipping in and out of consciousness during this blissful part of the service.
After the oils are massaged into your skin, your spa artisan will move on to the next treatment you selected, most likely either the Hawaiian Lomi-lomi massage or the hot stone massage. Although the hot stone massage feels great (especially with the cold weather outside) and helps loosen up tight muscles, the Hawaiian Lomi-lomi massage is perfect for those with especially tight kinks who really want to experience a heavy-duty massage. Based on Hawaiian concepts of working with the body, mind and spirit, the Lomi-lomi massage is a hands on healing experience that provides long-term results. You’ll quickly discover how flexible you are during the massage, as your spa artisan will be bending your legs into a variety of positions during the treatment. Not to worry, though–each artisan has been trained by Dr. Maka’ala Yates, a renowned Hawaiian medicine specialist, so they know what they’re doing. Still, because of the way you are draped during the service and the way your body is bent at times, the Lomi-lomi massage is generally recommended for frequent spa-goers and not first-timers. But if you’re feeling brave, it’s definitely worth checking out, as you’ll feel the results immediately.
Once your back and legs have been massaged, you’ll be asked to flip over on the treatment table so that the next part of your service can begin–the facial. Although extractions aren’t included with the treatment (for time’s sake), the mini-facial still covers all the basics: cleansing, exfoliating and a moisturizing masque. While the masque is given some time to work its magic, your spa artisan will continue with the second half of your massage, working on the front half of your body–mainly, your arms and legs. After the massage is complete, your spa artisan will remove the masque from your face, revealing soft, glowing skin in just a matter of minutes. You’ll feel like a whole new person by the time the Signature Hourglass Treatment is complete–not to mention left completely in awe over how much was done in just an hour. The treatment truly leaves guests with a newfound appreciation for multi-taskers!
Although the results are incredible, the best part about Qua’s Signature Hourglass Treatment is that you never feel like any one service was rushed for time’s sake; you really feel like you got several full-length treatments in the time it usually takes to get just one. Odds are you’ll want to come back and book the two-hour treatment one day just to see how many other services you can experience at once! Overall, the Signature Hourglass Treatment is easily one of the city’s most fulfilling treatments and worthy of being one of Qua’s signature services.
As with any paid spa treatment at Qua, guests who book the Signature Hourglass Treatment are also given access to the spa’s lavish facilities. You’ll want to make sure you arrive at least an hour before your scheduled appointment to experience all Qua has to offer, like its beautiful Roman Baths–three distinct pools varying in temperature (warm, hot and cold) and size. It’s recommended you start your Roman Baths experience in the largest of the three pools, the Tepidarium, which is filled with warm, mineral-enriched water to help restore natural elements to your body’s skin. Then, you can alternate between the two smaller pools, the Caldarium (hot) and the Frigidarium (cold). The Caldarium helps ease tension and soothes tired muscles while a quick plunge in the Frigidarium helps invigorate your body. Water massages, Thermal Stone Deep Relaxation Chaises and an overhead rain shower complete the one-of-a-kind experience. Other relaxing amenities include a spacious Jacuzzi, an herbal steam room, a cedarwood sauna, a co-ed laconium room and, of course, Qua’s famous Arctic Ice Room, which lets guests unwind in a crisp, 55-degree room as falling snow relieves stress. It’s recommended you give yourself some time after your treatment to experience the Arctic Ice Room, as you won’t want to do anything too cold prior to your service since you’ll want your muscles to be as relaxed as possible.
Your spa experience concludes with a visit to Qua’s cozy tea lounge (pictured left) where a tea sommelier will be on-hand to create and pair complimentary beverages, hot or cold, that go along with your service. Cold juices, bottled waters and bags of pretzels are also always nearby (just in case guests get thirsty or hungry before or after their treatment), as are Qua staff members, who are always willing to go out of their way to assist you with whatever you need, be it a bottle of water or someone to restart the Jacuzzi when the timer goes off so you don’t have to leave the hot tub.
