Meet Gabby, a soft-hearted, beautiful lab/pit mix who is currently waiting for her forever family at the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society.
Gabby has been sitting at the shelter for over a month now, patiently waiting to be noticed by someone other than the attentive staff who currently care for her every day at the shelter. She is a favorite here, known for her gentle demeanor, and propensity to roll-over for belly rubs.
Although Gabby is being well cared for at the shelter, it’s not the same as laying by someone’s fireplace on a soft dog bed, or joining a beloved companion on a walk in the rain. Gabby so adores being touched that she not only rolls over for the treasured belly-rubs, but if you stop, she starts to “talk” to get you back for more.
Hopefully some dog-loving soul will notice Gabby – see the gentleness in her big eyes and appreciate her beautiful golden/red coat. Gabby possesses the strong, “I’ll take care of you” appearance that many dog owners want, but has an endearing affection that makes her a perfect companion.
If you are interested in meeting Gabby, please make a trek to the Humane Society, located at 2608 Center Street, Tacoma, WA. Perhaps Gabby isn’t the perfect fit for your house, but she might be for others. Please help Gabby out by posting this article on your Facebook and Myspace pages and by forwarding it to friends and family.
You never know what your one, small act will accomplish. Something as small as a simple click (Tweet to your friends!) carries the potential to give a dog a new lease on life.
I had the opportunity to tour the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society yesterday. I will be posting articles in the coming week about this wonderful facility. If you are hesitant to visit a shelter because of the “depressing” atmosphere, you will be in for a pleasant surprise.
Tacoma Humane Society is ultra-clean, has a friendly and helpful staff, and does a remarkable job of caring for the animals in their charge. Click on their website to see the animals waiting to be adopted. There are cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, gerbils and even the occasional bird.
Gabby might not be the dog destined for your home, but one of the many other animals could be “it”. Just yesterday, there were kittens, puppies, young dogs both large and small, as well as gentle, calm seniors.
