If you missed the debut of the Elimination Chamber, you missed out on some big events. There was a shock at every turn it seemed. And like a good mystery novel, when you thought you had it figured out….somebody went and changed the ending.
In the dark match prior to the actual pay per view, Christian defeated the final ECW Champion, Ezekiel Jackson.
John Cena defeated Triple H to become the WWE Champion. Then, moments later, Vince McMahon brought Batista out to start an impromptu match against the new champion. Within seconds, Batista hit a spear and Batista Bomb, then pinned Cena to become the new WWE Champion. The match also saw a major shock when Cody Rhodes came to ringside with a metal pipe. He tossed it to Ted DiBiase, who in turn, hit Randy Orton in the head with it then eliminated him during the match.
Drew McIntyre made a successful defense of the WWE Intercontinental Championship when he defeated Kane. He caught the big red machine with a thumb to the eye, and hit his double underhook DDT for the win. It was a mirror image of how he beat John Morrison for that title last year.
Up next was supposed to be the finals of the WWE Divas Championship Tournament. But Vickie Guerrero put a stop to that by saying she didn’t like how the Raw Divas were supposedly bad-mouthing the SmackDown! Divas. So instead of it being Maryse against Gail Kim, they ended up teaming against Michelle McCool and Layla. It was just a matter of minutes before Team LayCool got the upper hand and the victory, when McCool hit her version of the Styles Clash on Gail Kim for the victory.
William Regal came out to address the St. Louis crowd, concerning the new WWE NXT program that debuts this Tuesday on SyFy. Before he could get too far into his speech, he was interrupted by the Rated R Superstar, Edge. He said that three weeks ago he won the Royal Rumble. Tomorrow night on Raw he would make his decision on who he would face at WrestleMania. He then said he had one other thing to take care of, and proceeded to spear Regal almost out of his boots. But not before calling him “Lord Snugglesworth” which got a good laugh out of the crowd.
The Miz successfully defended the WWE United States Championship against MVP. He had a little help from the Big Show though, who gave him a KO punch. This allowed Miz to make the cover and retain the title.
Up next was the SmackDown! Elimination Chamber match that saw action all over the chamber, including Chris Jericho try to lock himself inside one of the chamber pods to avoid The Undertaker. The champion had the match well in hand, but as he went to deliver a chokeslam to Jericho, the unthinkable happened. Shawn Michaels made his way inside the structure, and hit a thunderous dose of Sweet Chin Music on the champion. MIchaels then stood over a fallen Undertaker while the shocked and bewildered Jericho cautiously crawled over and covered The Undertaker for the win, becoming the World Heavyweight Champion.
Tomorrow night on Raw, Edge will make his decision on what his WrestleMania 26 plans are, as well the big fallout between Legacy. Why did DiBiase hit Orton in the head with the pipe? Did Rhodes and DiBiase accomplish what they wanted? Raw comes live tomorrow night at 9pm/8pm Eastern on USA!
