There is certainly a wide range of restaurants for your dining pleasure throughout Hollywood, but at the Sunset & Vine complex (www.sunsetandvine.com) , we nominate Kabuki Restaurant (www.kabukirestaurants.com) as the crown jewel because service is royal and the menu offerings have a taste and presentation fit for an emperor!
This is a beautifully appointed restaurant that has a wonderful energy level, thanks to the enthusiasm and personable attitude of its staff. Our server Gloria was a top-notch professional, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful, offering tips about her favorite choices which was very helpful for a first-timers’ visit.
Must-try selections on the sushi menu here include the signature Kabuki Roll, the Spicy Tuna over crispy rice and for lobster lovers, The Lotus Roll ( order Lotus on Fire if you want the heat of jalapeño peppers). Sushi specialties at Kabuki Hollywood are melt in your mouth delicious, beautifully presented on the plate and every order provided enough to share. Steamed edamame are another great appetizer, nicely seasoned with roasted garlic and sea salt and arriving at the table steaming hot.
Luncheon special combinations are the perfect lunch choice here — we tried the Omakase Deluxe Sushi Combination and the Chicken Teriyaki, BBQ Beef Ribs with Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura Combination, both arriving artfully arranged on the serving platter. The ginger dressing on the salad is especially refreshing for the palate. And adding to the enjoyment of our main courses was Kabuki’s Winter Sake Specials, three selections offered at half-price now through March and perfect for two. Luckily, we took Gloria’s advice to try the sweet and fruity Hyoko-No-Shizuku. The sake is presented in a clear lucite box filled with crushed ice to keep it at the perfect chilled drinking temperature throughout your meal. This presentation is representative of the kind of attention to detail that makes Kabuki Hollywood a five-star dining experience.
Naturally, we turned to Gloria’s guidance in choosing dessert, because she steered us beautifully in our choices throughout the rest of the meal. A Chocolate Hazelnut Pyramid with two spoons for sharing, with a creamy anglaise surprise in the middle and decorated with gorgeous and tasty fresh berries.
