We’ve already known for some time that “Ghostbusters 3” is well on its way to going in front of cameras for a release next year. We’ve also been told that everyone’s returning, Bill Murray may be playing a ghost, and that the baby from “Ghosbusters 2” is going to be playing a new recruit at the fire station. The new news? The whole thing may be in 3D. Is there anything “Avatar” can’t do? Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers…
“Avatar” has made roughly all the money in the world at this point, so it’s only natural that Hollywood is looking to slap the 3D process onto anything that even remotely lends itself to the format. The latest film to get onboard the 3D bandwagon? “Ghostbusters 3”.
Over at MarketSaw– they’re the awesome 3D blog that documented the making of “Avatar” every step of the way with insider info that one couldn’t really get anywhere else– they’re running an article that makes the claim. Here’s what it says:
Yes – I have word from one of my top sources that a friend of his at a certain well known effects house (I can’t say who it is, but their initials are ILM) said that GHOSTBUSTERS 3 is proceeding as planned – but – with the added benefit of stereoscopic 3D!
Treat this as a rumor with a good source for the moment. MarketSaw was the home to many scoops on “Avatar” throughout the film’s production, and just about everything they ran turned out to be true. Whoever runs the site has some well-placed connections, so it’s very possible that this is true. Furthermore, it makes a sort of sense: Hollywood’s going to make just about every special-effects driven movie in 3D now that “Avatar” has grossed nearly as much as “Titanic”.
Stay tuned for more shenanigans concerning “Ghostbusters 3(D)” in the near future, my precious snowflakes.
