This week on Days, Nathan and Phillip sat in jail arguing about Melanie until Melanie and Stephanie showed up to find out what happened. Phillip’s attorney got him released almost immediately while Nathan asked Stephanie to bail him out. While Stephanie prepared to sign the papers to bail Nathan out, Phillip told her his fight with Nathan had been over Melanie. He said that Nathan was just dating her to get his mind off Melanie. When Phillip left, Stephanie tore up the papers and said Nathan’s grandmother could bail him out.
Meanwhile, Melanie spoke with Nathan in his jail cell, asking him what was going on. He said that she couldn’t marry Phillip and that he knew Phillip wouldn’t make her happy. Melanie insisted Phillip was the one she loved and that she did want to marry him. Once home, Melanie and Phillip began packing for Las Vegas but stopped to have sex. Afterward, Phillip packed his bag while Melanie fell asleep and dreamed of Nathan. As they prepared to leave, Melanie asked Phillip if they could take an extended honeymoon to Europe. Philip agreed. Melanie went to the hospital and filled out paperwork to drop out of nursing school so that she could spend time in Europe with Phillip.
Nathan ran into Stephanie at the hospital. She was cold to him, but he apologized for what happened. He said he had done a lot of thinking in jail and had realized that by chasing Melanie he’d been chasing a fantasy. Stephanie said she couldn’t forgive him that easily. Nathan said that if she was the type to give second chances, she knew where to find him.
Victor and Vivian were furious when they caught Hope and Justin kissing in Vivian’s bedroom. Hope made up a story about the two of them being lonely and caught up in the moment. Victor kicked Justin out of the house and gave Hope a stern lecture. Bo ran into Vivian on the pier and Vivian took pleasure in telling Bo about the kiss. The next time Bo went to the mansion to pick up Ciara, he confronted Hope about it. She admitted to kissing Justin but claimed it wasn’t what he thought.
Bo ran into Justin at The Brady Pub and congratulated him on “winning.” Justin said he was done playing the nice guy, reminding Bo that Hope had asked him to draw up papers for a legal separation recently and he had declined because he thought Bo and Hope should be together. On Friday’s episode, Vivian taunted Carly at the hospital until she finally admitted that she had killed Lawrence and would do it again because he was a violent sociopath. As they rode the elevator, Vivian asked Carly if it reminded her of being buried alive and said that her only mistake was not finishing the job and letting her die. Vivian locked Carly in the elevator, causing Carly to have a severe panic attack. Bo was there to comfort her when the maintenance man fixed the elevator, later telling her they were in this together and kissing her again.
While Arianna was working on inventory at the pub, Troy hired a hit man to kill her. He was worried about her replacing him in the drug ring. The hit man entered the pub intending to kill Arianna, but Brady entered and stopped him. After the man left, Brady told Arianna that he was going to Nicole’s sentencing. Arianna said she wouldn’t go, but after Brady left, she reconsidered and left the pub.
Mia, Chad, Sami, EJ and Rafe all showed up for Nicole’s sentencing and testified against Nicole. At the last minute, Brady showed up and testified on her behalf as everyone looked on in disgust. Arianna arrived and heard Brady’s testimony. The judge said that it was clear that Nicole was in an extremely depressed and desperate state when she did what she did and, while he didn’t agree with her actions, on some level he understood them. Instead of the recommended 70 years, he sentenced Nicole to 20 years. Brady comforted Nicole as she was led away but Nicole told Brady not to write to her or visit while she was in prison. Later, back at the pub, Arianna told Brady that she didn’t understand him and didn’t think she ever would.
Jealous of her budding relationship with Chad, Mia took Gabi to Nicole’s sentencing so that she could hear the story herself. Afterward, Gabi got angry with Chad for not telling her about having a baby with Mia. Chad assumed she knew since Rafe and Arianna both knew about it. He asked her to wait at the Java Café until his shift ended so they could talk about it. Mia pulled Gabi aside and told her that she and Chad were soulmates. She said she was only telling Gabi so that Gabi didn’t get hurt but swore her to secrecy. When Mia left, Gabi told Chad to stay away from her.
Later, Will went to Maggie’s house to see how Mia was doing. Mia said that she needed him and pulled him in for a kiss. They were interrupted by Gabi, who demanded to know why Mia and Will had been kissing. Mia denied the kiss, but Gabi said that if Chad really meant that much to her than she shouldn’t lead Will on like that. Will overheard and asked Mia what Gabi meant. Mia said that she was new in town and didn’t know what she was talking about, but Will didn’t believe her. Will said that Mia had lied to him before and he wouldn’t stand for it again. Will broke up with Mia.
EJ and Sami argued over whether to tell Rafe about the ransom note EJ had received. Sami insisted that since Rafe was getting reinstated into the FBI that he would definitely be able to help them if he knew about the note. EJ thought about it but decided that keeping it a secret was the best course of action. Sami came close to telling Rafe anyway but they were interrupted by Roman, who had heard about Rafe’s reinstatement and wanted to talk to him about the case. As Sami dealt with her guilt over not telling Rafe, Anna DiMera received a visitor at the house where she was hiding Sydney. Her visitor was EJ DiMera, who had been in on the kidnapping all along. He held Sydney and comforted her, telling Anna to be careful or the deal was off.
Maggie and Mickey prepared to take their extended cruise to South America. On Thursday’s episode Maggie came down to the kitchen, looking devastated. She began to cry. Hope arrived and asked Maggie if she was OK. Maggie said no. She told Hope that while they were packing, Mickey had had a heart attack. Maggie tried to give him CPR, but he was already dead. Hope comforted Maggie, then went upstairs. She told Maggie she had called 911 and the two agreed it was best that Hope told Alice about her son’s death in person. As the paramedics led Mickey’s body away, Maggie cried and slipped his wedding ring on his finger, telling him she would always love him.
