It’s hard to know why some people are curious about plastic surgery and actually get procedures done, while others don’t seem to have any interest in it at all. But, the ones who seem to get the must-have plastic surgery bug seem to be rising in numbers.
Whether you know someone who has had a nip or tuck or full body reconstruction, or if you’ve only seen pictures of celebrities on channels like E!, the truth that plastic surgery can either be an improvement or a huge disaster is evident to all of us.
We all know the extremes that Michael Jackson went to to change his looks over the years before his death in 2009. It was evident he was unable to stop and his looks never became and remained perfect to him. Stemming from a childhood of negative comments about his nose, he started with one well-constructed surgery that ended up landing him with a complete transformation in appearance.
The newest star who is open about their obsession of surgery and the ten newest procedures they just had (in one day!) is the reality star from the MTV hit, The Hills, Heidi Montag.
Heidi verbally states on her many television interviews that she was teased as a teen for her small chest and the shape of her nose. The scars of negative comments towards her looks held strong and ended up motivating her to start seeking plastic surgery.
She started with a nose job and breast enhancement and while she was cute before she had the procedures, it’s hard to say that she didn’t look better after; she was the same person, just slightly enhanced. But, with her cover of People magazine with an article that lists the 10 newest surgeries she’d been waiting, “Years to have”, (the list includes but is not limited to: mini brow lift, buttock augmentation, chin reduction and yet another nose job revision), it all seems a bit much for someone who is only 23 years old.
Heidi says repeatedly in magazine and television interviews, including her spread in People:
We all want to feel attractive. So who is anyone to judge me?”
Yet, she knows she will be judged, especially living in a place like Hollywood where being perfect is expected and considered beautiful as well as by appearing on television for the whole world to see. There’s a point where a few procedures don’t make much of a headline, but now with over two handfuls of surgeries under her belt, there’s a chance Heidi may come to the point where she crosses the line and has no way back.
The only question now is, is Heidi becoming the new Michael?
