As we all know, Haiti is in turmoil right now and will be for years to come. Many are asking how they can help. On Sunday January 24, 2010 the Helping Haiti Fundraiser will be held in Denver.

Helping Haiti, an evening of music, art & wine to raise funds for earthquake relief in Haiti, will take place Sunday, January 24, from 5:00 -9:00 p.m. at The Other Side Arts gallery (1644 Platte Street, Denver).
Several organizations and individuals in the Denver-Metro area have teamed up to host a fundraiser for PROJECT C.U.R.E.’s emergency relief efforts in Haiti. There will be special music presentations throughout the evening by slam poetry artist Panama Soweto (Slam Nuba), Hip Hop artist Time (Calm.) and DJ AshishB, to accompany short educational presentations on Haiti and earthquakes. Representatives of PROJECT C.U.R.E. will share the scope of the organization’s efforts and the challenges particular to this relief effort in Haiti.
HOW CAN I HELP?
The event is free, but monetary donations will be accepted, as will volunteers for work locally at the organization’s headquarters in Centennial, Colorado.
PROJECT C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief & Equipment) was founded in 1987 to help meet the need for medical supplies, equipment and services around the world. Since its inception, PROJECT C.U.R.E. has delivered medical relief to needy people in more than 120 countries. 100% of the contributions will go directly to disaster relief. Time, aka Chris Steele, is a local hip hop music artist who has collaborated in the past with such acts as Sole of the Anticon collective, Talib Kweli, Drake, Kool Keith and C-Rayz Walz. DJ AshishB is a top South Asian DJ in Colorado and radio show host for Boulder’s Radio 1190. He has been spinning Bollywood/bhangra/Asian fusion and top 40s for the last 4 years in such clubs as Church, Lotus, Ra, Sutra Lounge, Zen Ultra Lounge. (http://www.djashishb.com)
