The Houston area will host book signings for several authors of romantic fiction in this week, and February will be the month for a big annual writing event.
Becca Fitzpatrick will sign HUSH, HUSH at the Blue Willow Bookshop at 14532 Memorial Drive on Friday January 22 at 7:00 pm. In this paranormal romance, a young woman meets a man named Patch who proves to be more than he appears. Terrifying encounters and an unsettling truth lead the heroine to a crossroads where she must choose sides. The wrong choice will prove deadly.
Laura Griffin will sign her romantic suspense UNTRACEABLE at Katy Budget Books at 2450 Fry Road on Saturday January 23 at 1:30 pm. UNTRACEABLE features heroine Alexandra Lovell who, as a private investigator, helps clients “disappear” from their problematic lives. When a recent client really disappears, Alex suspects the woman’s abusive husband of murder. She seeks the assistance of Nathan Deveraux, a homicide cop who believes that no body equals no crime. Alex must convince him to help her before she becomes the next person to vanish.
Susan Kearney will sign LUCAN at Katy Budget Books at 2450 Fry Road on Tuesday January 26 at 7:00 pm. In this fantasy romance, Lady Cael is a healer and high priestess who is forbidden to mate. But explorer Lucan Rourke threatens her will and her birthright with his simple touch. She, on the other hand, is a threat to his mission to save the Earth…unless he can convince her to join forces with him.
West Houston Romance Writers of America will hold their annual Emily Awards Meeting on Saturday February 13. In addition to the ceremony for the coveted Emily writing award, the group will host Sam Havens, Professor Emeritus at the University of St. Thomas in Houston and Patricia Kay, USA Today Bestselling author of more than 49 novels. Havens will present “How Characters Happen”, explaining how to create “objective-driven characters”. Kay will present “The Emotional Connection”, explaining how writers can make an emotional connection with their readers.
