Women who have experienced infertility have an acutely heightened feeling of body awareness. There is a sense that everything that a woman does impacts her fertility. There is a community of people that supports massage as an alternative natural treatment approach to improve fertility. How does massage work as an infertility treatment?
Fertility Proregistry.com describes the goal of infertility massage in these terms. It says massage, “assists in loosening entangled tissues and frees the reproductive organs. It is a combination of acupressure, abdominal massage, and reflexology points that assists in stimulating your body’s natural hormones and increases blood flow to reproductive organs.”
Meagan Carmichael, a health and wellness writer, wrote about a specific type of massage called Chi Nei Tsang. (CNT) It is a Chinese form of massage. It is also known as “Reproductive Organ Massage. (ROM) Ms. Carmichael says it is done by “a CNT certified practitioner, acupuncturist or accupressurist.” The goal of this type of massage is “to cleanse, balance and relax the woman’s body, making it an ideal environment for conception.”
Natural Fertility suggests infertility massage as a natural treatment option for endometriosis. Author Shelley Ross explains,“when endometriosis flares up, muscles in the lower back can result in a painful protective spasm. Spasms cause muscular tension in the abdomen and pelvic region. She describes several types of massages that can be used. Their universal purpose is to “manipulate muscles, ligaments and tendons in the body to prevent discomfort, pain, stress, and muscle spasms.”
It is important to gather as much information as you can from healthcare professionals like physicians, nurses, and licensed holistic practitioners to make choices about your body care and infertility treatment. There is a temptation to try everything you can in hopes of defeating your infertility. Everybody’s health situation and background is unique. There can be many causes for infertility. Some can be identified, some cannot. Just be certain you have consulted all the experts you can so whatever infertility treatment choices you make will offer you safe and effective treatments.
