Jane’s on the Common is a bright and cheerful restaurant spot located near the Halifax Commons. Every time I drive down Robie Street the restaurant’s funky red sign beckons me. There is just something about this restaurant that says “Come on in” and that is just what the locals do.
The spacious restaurant possesses a relaxed atmosphere, bright colors and most importantly fresh, made from scratch, foods that are sourced locally.
While most restaurants in Halifax strive to be located in the heart of the city, Jane’s on the Common is located outside of the main core. Located at 2394 Robie Street, one of the main streets leading into the city, Jane’s on the Common simply stands out.
Perhaps it is the sign outside or maybe it is the fact that when you look into the windows as you drive by the restaurant you can see that Jane’s is consistently packed with people. They look relaxed and inviting and ultimately your curiosity is peaked – you park your car, walk to Jane’s and step inside.
Then it begins! You taste the scrumptious food, experience the amazing customer service and you truly understand what all the fuss is about.
I could literally spend all day at Jane’s and I suspect that some people actually do and frankly I am just a tad envious. This restaurant is simply . . . spectacular!
Jane’s sticks to the local dishes that Atlantic Canadians simply love to eat including lunch items such as Chicken Pot Pie, Smoked Salmon, Fresh Haddock and Seafood Chowder.
The brunch menu includes more home cooked dishes including the Maritime breakfast, Sweet William’s breakfast, Eggs Benedict, Steak and Eggs, West Indies Pulled Pork Benedict, Caribbean French Toast and much more.
Dinner is just as enticing including dishes such as Cornmeal crusted Chicken Breast, Black Bean and Sweet Potato Stew, Madras Vegetable Curry, Scallop Linguini, Sweet William’s Smoked Pork Chop and Char-broiled Beef Striploin.
Jane’s on the Common offers Lunch and Dinner menus on the weekdays and Brunch and Dinner menus on the weekends. They also offer a variety of desserts, wines, coffees and teas – sourced locally!
