January 21, 2010 –Lady Gaga hits the boards at the iconic Radio City Music Hall again tonight (January 21) for the second time in a row. Meanwhile, as of today, the Bad Romance creator’s Just Dance becomes the most downloaded hit for any female artist in history, surpassing the five million mark.
With the concert this evening as a chance to live this album live in New York City, Gaga also celebrates an even bigger deal: The singing sensation is the first artist of any gender in the 17-year history of Billboard’s pop countdown to take the number one spot four times for a debut album.
So, with Paparazzi, Poker Face, Just Dance, and LoveGame on the roster, Lady Gaga prepares to bound on stage at Radio City Music Hall this evening.
No doubt, the singer will be as unforgettable as her venue. The Art Deco splendor of Radio City Music Hall, the pride of New York City, has been called The Showplace of the Nation, a 12-acre entertainment venue that still brings all the razzle dazzle originally planned for the heady entertainment complex when it opened on December 27, 1932. So special, the interior was named a city landmark in 1979.
Designed by Edward Durell Stone with decor by renowned architect/designer Donald Deskey, the two innovator’s contribution hit visitors with such visual impact that a local critic once relayed, “It has been said of the new Music Hall that it needs no performers.”
That critic obviously never had the chance — or even the vision — for such a performer as the inimitable Lady Gaga, who captures any stage with enough heat to warm up even the coldest night in Antarctica.
And the capper to go along with Lady Gaga’s wildly anticipated stage debut at Radio City? The gutsy musician has designated all proceeds from this concert to be slated for Haiti earthquake disaster relief.
You go, girl. Gaga reigns again.
