On Sunday, January 24th, animal lovers will gather at Sambuca restaurant in Uptown for a cocktail event. There will be great food, good drinks, and good company. This event will raise funds for the SPCA of Texas’ Village Fair Spay/Neuter Clinic.
Village Fair Spay/Neuter Clinic, located in South Dallas, provided 8,651 spay/neuter procedures to residents who would not otherwise be able to afford to have their pets fixed. With an estimated 40,000 homeless pets in Dallas, low cost spay/neuter clinics are desperately needed. The SPCA of Texas hopes to raise enough money to spay or neuter 10,000 pets at this clinic in 2010.
In addition to raising funds to pay for the operating costs for Village Fair Spay/Neuter Clinic, the SPCA of Texas hopes to raise enough to start an endowment to permanently provide funds for the clinic. To that end, there will be a silent auction for a wide variety of items from 6-9 pm.
Items for the auction include hotel stays, fragrance from Chanel, sports packages from the Dallas Stars, salon and spa gift certificates, dog photography and dog portrait items, lots of other dog items, restaurant gift certificates, two subscriptions to the Super Bowl Concert series worth $1500 a piece – Faith Hill, Sting, and an unnamed star in September are included. Jan Barboglio collection items and many other items are waiting for your bid. Some spectacular dog beds designed by Dallas’ top designers will be offered for sale and range from $300 to $1800. The $1800 includes a vintage Murano lamp along with the bed. For $25, you getsa bone to place on the spin of a wheel. Winnings range from restaurant gift certificates worth $25 to those worth $1,000.
Tickets to the event are $225 for patrons, $150 for individuals. If that is a bit steep for your budget, you can buy a Paws Cause 2010 calendar for $30. This calendar has pictures of dogs and cats in a handy bound spiral calendar. Proceeds go to the spay/neuter clinic. Both tickets and calendars can be bought here.
