“Savannah Rescue Spotlight” is a rescue dog or cat from a local shelter that is in need of adoption. The featured rescue is as follows:
Perry is at the Effingham Animal Shelter. Just look at Perry’s face and that should tell you enough. He is there and does not want to be, he wants to go to a home to enjoy his companions company. His adoption fee is $45. He must be neutered at the adopter’s expense. Proof of sterilization and a rabies vaccination must be provided to the shelter in writing within 30 days of adoption. This is why their adoption fee is so small. Sterilization can be schedules at the Spay & Neuter Alliance Clinic (SNAC) in Hardeeville, SC. They provide pick-up and drop-off service in Springfield. To neuter Perry the cost would be $65 plus a rabies vaccination of $7. Total adoption cost of $117 providing you utilized the SNAC clinic.

We have the winners to the “Pet Pages” photo contest #28. Congratulations to each and every one of you. Here is what we all have been waiting for, the results.
1st Place – “Shhh. Quiet I’m suppose to be sleeping, but I do hear you.” This picture was sent in by Pat M. This is what she had to say about the picture, “Daisya was a 16 yr old stray found by the Chattanooga TN animal shelter back in 2005. The Shelter wanted to euthanize Daisya because of her age as they felt she was not adoptable. The humane officer who found Daisya said that he would find a rescue to take her in. So the American Lhasa Apso Club (ALAC) Rescue was chosen as Daisya new family. My husband Paul and I were living in Pennsylvania and made the 15 hour round trip to Chattanooga to pick her up from the shelter. Because of Daisya’s age, she was going to become one of our Forever Foster Gran Damns and live with one of our ALAC rescue volunteer in upstate NY. During the trip back to Pennsylvannia, Ms Daisya stole my husband’s heart and never made it to NY. Then in 2007 Ms. Daisya moved with us to Tennessee where we now live in the Knoxville area. Life certainly does make a full circle for some of us! In the past 5 years that she has been with us, Daisya has brightened our lives. She is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever been blessed to rescue. She always greets me at the door when I come home from work with a wag of her tail and a little happy dance as only this Gran Damn can do. This summer Ms. Daisya will be celebrating her 21st birthday!”
Thanks for sending such a cute photo. She looks so cute. This photo won 44% of the votes.

2nd Place – “Hey even I get cold with this hair cut. The sweater works, buddy!” This picture was sent in by Pat M. This is what she had to say about the picture, “Caesar joined our happy little family in 2008. He is also a Forever Foster with the American Lhasa Apso Club Rescue. He was 6 1/2 years old, blind and diabetic; unfortunately his family was not able to care for him. When my husband and I picked him up in Kentucky, we knew that he was special. He had a very loving nature and is a bit of a clown. He loves to play with squeeky toys. He will sit for hours squeaking one of his toys if given a chance. Lhasa Apso’s are known to be good watch dogs and when someone comes to visit, Caesar is usually the first one at the door to announce their arrival. During December we opened our house up for the Annual Rockwood Holiday Home Tour. Caesar was the tour guide for our house. He had a haircut just before the tour and donned the teal sweater he is wearing in the picture so he would stand out in a crowd as well as not be too cold when providing tour services for visitors!”
Thanks for sending such a cute photo. He looks handsome in that sweater. I would have loved to have been greeted by him on that day. This photo came in with 40% of the votes.

3rd Place – “Hey which way did it go, which way did it go! I can’t see it.” This picture was sent in by Morgan W. This is what she had to say about the picture, “This is our 3 year old Bull Mastiff Apollo (aka Wallee). Every time it snows he is not sure if he likes it or not. He has 2 brothers that he plays with everyday. He recently got a new cell phone toy that rings every time he bites it. So, now every time the phone rings we have to check to see if it’s Wallee’s phone or the house phone.”
Thanks for sending in such a great shot. That is funny about the phone, hopefully he will not put two and two together and when the house phone rings, try to grab it to chew on. If he does, get a picture and send it to me. That would make a great contest shot. This photo came in with 13% of the votes.
