Don’t let the name fool ya… this joint is a big fixture in Portland Pizza pride and persistence. The Pizza Joint was founded in 1976, the bicentennial year of our country, and ironically, the combined experience of today’s staff is nearly two centuries worth of pizza twirling, spaghetti bending, and sandwich making, that would make Chef Boyardee’s goofy hat spin with jealousy.
The Pizza Joint uses a tried-and-true philosophy: make good food good, and do it well. And that, they do. The dough is made fresh, and from scratch, everyday. Unlike cold cash on Wall St, the Pizza Joint does not have frozen dough. And unlike reality TV, everything is fresh. (Except the staff, they are polite.) Pizza Joint’s chefs handcraft the meatballs, sausage, and lasagna right there on the premises and top their creations with the highest quality ingredients.
Pizza Joint doesn’t need Madison Avenue gimmicks to get customers to return on a regular basis, they have served generations of Mainers and folks from away for nearly four decades. One can top their pizzas with close to thirty delicious toppings, ranging from anchovies to capicola to Canadian bacon to sun-dried tomatoes. There are too many to mention here, but you could get a new topping for nearly every day of the month (if it were February).
And if size does matter, you can choose from 8 inches of doughy goodness to an orgasmic 20 incher that would satisfy the hunger of Venus. You’ll find something you love to place on your pizza.
Want to experience something other than pizza? Hot sandwiches are piled high and deep with sausage or meatballs, pastrami and provolone, or steak and provolone. Or experience an explosion of edible ecstasy with the Steak Bomb – lean beef, mushrooms, onions, peppers and provolone.
Pasta meals and fulfilling sandwiches will blow away the pangs of hunger. Too tired to go out? Don’t worry they deliver for only $3. You can also purchase a range of beverages from domestic and imported beers to sodas to energy drinks to milk. After meal snacks like chips, candy and ice cream are available in wide variety. This may not be the classiest joint in the world, but it is definitely a delicious Pizza Joint of epic proportions!
