Once there, Key West offers an impressive selection of restaurants. Cultures from across the globe thrive in the Keys and the foods show it. Seafood plays a prominent role in most of these cultures and few places do it better than the Keys.
For a traditional seafood dinner The Shrimp Shack is excellent. It is tucked inside a working fish house and the outdoor seating has a dockside view. The food is not fancy but tasty and exquisitely fresh. On Sunday, the restaurant hosts a shrimp boil with live music from 11AM to 10PM. A pound of shrimp with a side of boiled, spiced potatoes will do the trick. Wash it down with a pitcher of beer or glass of wine and enjoy the scene. The hustling dockworkers and fishermen give you an interesting look at an industry that drives the Keys economy.
Try a filet of blackened mahi-mahi. Conch fritters are a must on the first trip to Key West. Stone crab claws are delicious cold or steamed. The Shrimp Shack will offer something for everyone. (If you enjoy raw oysters, do so during the “-ber” months only for best results.)

On Duval Street, Upper Crust offers a sinful slice of pizza pie. They are not open late night like other popular spots, but the pizza quality is greater. The dough at Upper Crust is made fresh and provides a light and crispy crust. Special slices change daily and they have the traditional toppings such as pepperoni or mushrooms.
