This is the second in a series of resumes for those who are seeking the highest office in the State of Georgia. The qualifications will remain the same for each one – fair is fair, right. But each resume will be related to each individual who has thrown their hat in the ring. This article is dedicated to DuBose Porter.
Position Available: Governor
Salary – To commensurate with performance
Qualifications: Only those of high intelligence, record of honesty and integrity; and experience in the areas of leadership, decision making, fiscal responsibility, people friendly, no payback promises due to supporters. Skilled in negotiations, legal matters for state including House and Senate proceedings. Must have impeccable skills in supervisory ability; and able to multi-task and oversee all affairs of the State of Georgia.
Must be moral, faithful, and dependable in all family matters; and must have shown dedication to uphold both Constitutions of US and GA. Must be sober, pass a drug test, and a lie detector test. Must have paid all income taxes; never been arrested. Must recognize that there is a higher being than themselves, namely God. Must recognize that they are not God.
Must have the backbone/moral fortitude to stand for what is right; to be just, listen to and serve the people of GA regardless of race, creed, religion, or national origin. Must look in the eye of the camera and tell you the truth at all times. Must not in any way attempt to steal, swindle, extort or otherwise use the position of Governor for personal profit. Must not go hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Must not become too familiar with interns, or violate previous contracts or agreements so help them God; for as long as they shall live – at least as long as they live in the Governor’s Mansion. Must have at least a GED or the sense that God promised a billy goat.
Objective: To become the Governor of Georgia
DuBose graduated from Dublin High School and received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College. DuBose earned his law degree from Cumberland School of Law and returned to Dublin, where he practiced law.

Owned small business in Dublin – A newspaper – with 40 employees
Speaker Pro Tempore of the House of Representatives in 2003
Leader of the House Democratic Caucus in 2005.
Chair of both Education and Higher Education
Presently serves on Appropriations, Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, and Rules and Ethics.
Born in Dublin, Georgia. DuBose has been married to his wife, Carol Dodd of Wrightsville, for 26 years. DuBose and Carol have four sons, Stephen, 24; Guyton, 21; and twins Asa and Inman, 20. All the boys, as well as DuBose, are Eagle Scouts. DuBose and his family are avid outdoorsmen. DuBose, Carol, and the boys are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Dublin, where DuBose served on the Administrative Board and Carol teaches Sunday School.
