SEATTLE -” Police made at least 16 arrests when 800 war protesters demonstrated in downtown Seattle Saturday afternoon. This is the third consecutive day of war protests in the city…”
What are you fighting against?
How do you feel now? If you feel disturbed, stressed or “put out” right now, do you know why you feel the way you do? Are you saying, “Well, it’s natural to feel uncomfortable about these topics…” If so, what you are saying is this: You actually believe that feeling stress is a natural state of being. And that says everything about how you contribute stress to this world. Ready to go a bit deeper?
Anything that you believe is wrong, bad, disgusting, horrible, evil, negative and impossible to comprehend is one thing and one thing only:
misunderstood by you,
and waiting for you to please, understand.
How could that be, you might ask? How long have we been protesting and “fighting against” to obtain peace? Forever. Did you know that protesters don’t really want peace? They don’t want anything to do with it. They want to be right. They just want to keep the war of, “I am right, you are wrong” going. That’s it. There is absolutely nothing peaceful about protesting war or abortion or racism. If you’re protesting anything, openly or privately, anything at all, you are just adding more of that very thing you fear and despise to your life and every life on this planet.
All of these things are your mirrors. Take advantage of the mirror or stop proclaiming you truly care about anyone or anything.
These mirrors still exist because our ancestors did not recognize and learn from them. They didn’t want to face the truth because they were too afraid of what they might discover there. Because they were afraid, they never got close enough to the truth to see it. There is a price for not being curious about the nature of our suffering. The greatest price of all. They wanted to “pretend their happiness” and repress the misunderstood darkness. That is all we have ever feared. The “darkness”. If you didn’t repress it (because you do not understand it), it wouldn’t control you and then there would be nothing created out of that repression and then violence and war would not exist and you would never have a thing to fear. The darkness is not what you have believed it to be.
If any or all of these things above pain you to think of them, if they create judgment, fear, rage, sadness, pity, disgust and/or terror inside of you, then they are mirroring you and the painful, judgmental, fearful, raging, sad, pitied, disgusted and terrifyingly unconscious relationship you have with yourself. If you just can’t comprehend how anyone could do these things, you don’t have any honest comprehension of yourself. In short, you are lying to yourself in the name of staying a safe and unconscious victim, and the whole world suffers greatly because of it.
If you did not need the mirror, these things would not exist on the planet right now. Not one of them. Do you understand the enormity of this truth? If we did not need these mirrors, they would not be here, right now, for us to experience and use. Wake up! All things are here as a perfect reflection of the relationship we are having with self. When the inner relationship is met with love and compassion, the war out there ends, forever. If you do not pay attention to the gift of these mirrors, they will continue to mock your reality and the reality of your children. You are the teacher, yes?
Do you really want peace in the world? Are you really ready for the kind of peaceful resolution you proclaim, on a daily basis, you’re ready for? Do you want these things to cease? For you, your family, your children, your friends, your planet? Step up to the scary, the horrid, negative, atrocious and sad. When you turn the other cheek, when you do not investigate what has been buried for centuries, you fully participate in them perpetuating. When you keep the blinders on, pointing fingers, you lock the innocent child in the closet. This isn’t about blame. This isn’t about making anyone feel bad. This is about doing what it takes to wake up from the nightmare we call “reality”.
Stop imprisoning the misunderstood one and the violence will begin to stop. Look at the message you painted so passionately on your picketing sign. You don’t have to be out on the streets, marching and shouting. You’re doing it everytime you flip on the news, read the headlines of the newspaper, turn on the computer and have an argument with a loved one. Listen to yourself. Hear how you think, how you talk to others about these topics. Most importantly, feel how you feel. That feeling of anxiety and blame and fear is the exact war you’re so busy ranting on about. It’s inside of you. Look at your “cause” straight in the face. Can you meet it? Can you meet that projection with some curiosity? Are you ready for peace?
Be the peace. Open the door. Look in that mirror.
