Special Friends Camp at Warm Beach provides summer get aways for teens, adults with disabilities

by aero chug

The Special Friends Day Camp Program began in 2006 with one day camp for adults with special needs.  The camp is specifically designed for people with special needs ages 15 through Adult.

Over the years, the day camp program has become so popular that it has grown to 3 day camps during the summer and this year they have included an overnight camp option too.

Each camper is paired up with a “Buddy” who assists the camper as needed and helps them enjoy all that Camp has to offer. Special Friends Camp provides paid staff and trained volunteer buddies to appropriately support the campers experience. Adult Caregivers are welcome to attend!

The camp is held at the very beautiful Warm Beach Camp, a year round Christian Camp and Conference Center.  Campers experience unconditional love, dignity and accomplishment, fun, new experiences, a caring community and much more!

Although the camp does have a religious component, Camp directors have made a point of mentioning that being Christian is not a requirement for being included in this fun summer camp.

The dates of the summer programs this year are:

  1. June 29 – July 2 ( Day Camp)
  2. July 5 – 8 (Day Camp)
  3. July 5 – 8 (Overnight Camp)
  4. August 23 – 26 (Day Camp)

Activities include:

  • Swimming
  • Mini-golf
  • Trail Rides (extra fee)
  • Ropes Course
  • Climbing Tower
  • Crafts
  • Skits
  • Music
  • and much more!

Day Camps are $196.00
Overnight Camp is $587.00

They are actively recruiting volunteers for all these programs! If anyone were interested. Volunteers come as individuals and groups. It is an amazing experience for Leadership Training groups.

What do Parents and Caregivers have to say about Special Friends Camp:

  • “I am very impressed. It was all very well organized and everyone was so nice and very attentive to the campers.”
  • “Amazing!”
