The Massachusetts race with victor Scott Brown proved a couple of things. First, that even the powerful President Obama supporting a candidate doesn’t guarantee a victory. And second, that the American public is showing their disapproval of the current administration’s direction.
We would expect a Republican victory from a red State. But a win such as this in a crucial time in a liberal State like Massachusetts sends a message that the public is not happy with proposed public health care, rising taxes, and bank bailouts with no accountability that the public end up footing the bill.
The Obama Socialist Experiment has hit its first rut. His and his cohort Nancy Pelosi’s “Health Care Takeover Plot” has taken a real blow that may require more convicing than just a simple mantra that Americans need this plan. The spell Obama has put over the American public may finally have been broken.
Politicians fear that the American public are realizing that the ones who really want this health care plan are the politicians. While they claim it is for those Americans who don’t have coverage, they have still not taken public options off the table. Its the one point that Democrats are unwilling to waiver on. The fact that public options is the one non-negotiated issue reveals that the politicians intend to have a government-run system that forces businesses and insurance companies to yield to the public coverage. And no matter what version of the bill has been rewritten, some form of public options is maintained. The plan allows government total control over a big economic sector. And what have they gotten their hands on that they have ever run successfully? And without corruption?
What this demonstrates is that the real reason they want this bill so bad is beyond covering all Americans. If that was the case, public options would be dropped and Democrats would be open to other plans that Republicans can agree on with them.. However, Democrats continue to claim that they must pass something due to a lack of other options while many Conservatives and Republicans have presented plans that do not consider public options that Democrats continue to ignore because they do not fit their socialist agenda. Their goal is less about coverage and more about control.
The public is finally starting to catch on, which makes many politicians squirm, especially Obama and Pelosi. Public outcry has proved that the people want accountability. The President has at least proposed financial reform that includes accountability on banks that request bailouts. And in Albany, Governor Paterson has proposed ethics reform to make politicians accountable. Perhaps the moral issue is the biggest demand from the public. And now maybe our leaders will be forced to listen.
