War and Wheels, a promotion brought to New Orleans fans by POWER MMA, Reality Combat, and No Love Entertainment is set for Saturday night January 23rd at the New Orleans Convention. “It has literally been years since New Orleans has seen a show on this scale with this many professional fights featuring local talent,” said Carlos Mena co-promoter of the show. Tickets start at just $35 with floor seats at $65 and cage side table seat at $100 and includes admission to the World of Wheels on Saturday and added bonus for fight fans. Rich Clementi, co-promoter of the show and a ten time UFC fighter who himself has had a string of victories against tough opponents in the last few months said, “this card is absolutely stacked. There are a lot of good fights set for Saturday and we are going to see many of region’s best fighters.” As the force behind Mandeville’s Gladiators Academy Clementi has worked to train and develop many of the fighters on the card and is looking forward to seeing how both his professional and amateur fighters will perform on Saturday night.
At the top of the card is LSU star Shawn Jordan set to fight Marcus Kaiser in a heavyweight slugfest. Former UFC fighters JC Pennington (JC trains with Clementi), from Slidell will face well-known police officer and popular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor Frank Caracci from Metairie. Also from Metairie Superstar Charlie Rader will face Randy Billiot in what is sure to be a great fight. Popular MMA coach from POWER MMA Adam Peeples will face Hank Hughes in an exciting match-up. And two great fighters from Chalmette Gary Bergeron and Gabe Wood will fight Ryan Caprari and Shawn Hayes respectivey; Wood who recently took some time off of fighting is looking forward to getting back in the cage.
Perhaps the fight that has gotten the most buzz on the internet, via myspace is Black Dufour vs. Frankie Dimtri, both amateurs in the 135 pound weight class. “I’m ready for a good fight,” Blake Dufour recently told the MMA examiner. Fighters from gyms all over the region are set to fight Friday night including Craig Wilson and David Soares of Ancona’s gym. And Jeremy Meadows, a second generation fighter who trains with Warren Doneley is set to face Chris Acker in an important test for his 5-1 career.
