The Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP) is hosting the 19th annual Zinfandel Festival, Zin in Paradise, in San Francisco, January 28-30. This is a grand festival in celebration of America’s Heritage Wine, Zinfandel. There will be four events during those three days plus celebrity chef, winemaker dinners and plenty of fine Zins to sample.
Thursday, January 28 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason Center there will be the Good Eats and Zinfandel Pairing event. Tickets are $95 for ZAP members and $125 for non-members. The event will start with celebrity chef, Beverly Gannon, pairing up with a couple of the ZAP wineries to serve her famous “Hawaii Regional Cuisine”. In addition almost 50 Zinfandel producers will be pairing with various restaurants to match the proper Zin with selected special dishes. On Friday, January 29 the Flights event begins at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel, Peacock Court from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $65 for ZAP members and $80 for non-members. Five top Zinfandel winemakers from Ridge Vineyards, Three Wine Company, JC Cellars, Robert Biale Vineyards and Bedrock Wine Company will each present a quintessential Zinfandel signifying the Zinfandel legacy to California winemaking. Each winemaker panelist will also feature a proprietary Zinfandel-based red wine, blending in other grapes with California Zinfandel to produce new and interesting wine styles.
Friday evening, starting at 5:00 p.m. will be the Evening with the Winemakers benefit live auction and dinner at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel. Tickets are $210 for members and $260 for non-members. Celebrity chef Beverly Gannon has developed a wonderful dinner for this event. The live and silent auctions will raise funds for ZAP’s Heritage Projects.
The 19th Annual Grand Zinfandel Tasting event takes place on Saturday, January 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Herbst and Festival Pavilions at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Tickets are $49 for members, $59 for non-members and $69 at the door. Almost 250 wineries will be pouring at this event providing visitors the opportunity to sample premium Zin, barrel samples and new releases.
This is a major wine event in the Bay Area and a great opportunity to learn more about California’s heritage wine, Zinfandel
